Run
Comments: It was really windy from the very start, probably 25+ mph, which felt pretty cold with the temperature only being in the 40s at the start. I decided to go with shorts, a tank, arm warmers, and gloves, and I though at the start it may have been a mistake because I was really cold. But a mile or so in I realized it was just right. This was pretty much the best-trained I've been going into a race and it showed. I was able to hold 7:50/mi without any trouble early on. My right leg got strangely tight around mile 9 but luckily it passed. The later miles into the wind were a little tough but I got through them. The run through Lambeau was kind of cool, but I realized then the course was long by a good amount, at least according to my Garmin. It was confirmed by an email from the race director on Monday. It was a great race for me, a 27 min. PR! What would you do differently?: Can't think of anything really, this was pretty much the best I could do with how I trained for the race. Maybe push the pace a little harder early on... Post race
Warm down: Got my medal, tried to find something to eat but failed... What limited your ability to perform faster: 60+ hr./week job limits available time to train. Several international trips in the 2 months leading up to the race. Event comments: This was a great race with the exception of the post-race activites. There was no food I could find anywhere near the finish line... Last updated: 2011-04-07 12:00 AM

Drove up Saturday and hung out with the girlfriend's family a bit. We got packet pickup done around 4 and decided to just go ahead and eat at the free pasta dinner right away. Dinner was out of the way by 5:30, so we headed back to the hotel and relaxed in the hot tub for an hour or so. Got to sleep pretty early and slept really well, but 5 AM is still 5 AM. Headed over to Lambeau, hit the port-o-john, and was ready to go.
Nothing, first half-mile was my warmup.
