Swim
Comments: It was pretty choppy heading out into the waves. Sandbar about 50 yards from shore allowed me to stand and walk for a few seconds. Got in a pretty good rhythm after rounding the first buoy. Struggled some on the way in with the waves. Time seems slow but course looked more like 600 yards. Glad I had the wetsuit given the "red flag" conditions. Time includes about 100 yard run up beach to timing mat at T1. I was glad to get to the beach. What would you do differently?: Its hard to replicate these types of conditions so I just tried to stay calm and push through. Transition 1
Comments: No transition times posted. Transition was in a sand/gravel parking lot so it was a little rough on the feet. Overall probably pretty average Bike
Comments: It was like two different races. On the way out there was a stiff headwind with some gusty crosswinds coming between the high rise condos. Tried to keep an eye on power and push a steady pace. Just seems so much harder pushing 230 watts and going 19mph than pushing 230 and going 29mph. That was the situation today. After the turn we had the very nice tailwind back to transition. Bridge was not too bad and provided something different for the flat course. Looking at power numbers I still need to push harder in sprints. What would you do differently?: Tailwind both ways would have been nice.. Transition 2
Comments: Pretty average here. No times posted Run
Comments: Was shooting for 30min for the run and thought I did that. Averaged 7:45/mile pace into the wind to the turnaround. Picked up pace on the return. I had my last 2 miles at 7:15 and 6:37. A little curious about posted run time but guess it would be the same for everyone. Good run for me since I was able to push the pace the last 2 miles. What would you do differently?: Nothing. I felt like I had a good rhythm today on the run. Post race
Warm down: Drank some water, packed up stuff and watched folks finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: At least I was consistent with 2nd in my age group in swim, bike and run. Problem was that the guy that won the AG was 1st in swim, bike and run. Oh well...I got a nice coffe mug and had a good time! Event comments: Fun race. Good after race party at the Florabama. A little slow in getting to the awards but plenty of refreshments and a good band while waiting. Last updated: 2011-04-10 12:00 AM

The ususal. Wheat bagel, Ensure and sip on some Accelerade.
Nothing really other than a quick jump in the water to splash around.
