  • Comments: Overall it was good. It's a low-key race. There were no emails leading up to the race which was kinda off and made me question if I actually registered. There isn't a lot of info leading up to the start. No national anthem or announcements. Before the race we were standing around and I quietly heard someone say "ready" "set" "GO" which kinda threw me off.

  • Comments: This was my first race 13 years ago and I have done it every year. The race used to sell out early with 400 spots. Today there were less than 200. The race is fun and the post race is great. Its held at the Flora Bama, one of the most fun beach bars in the civilized world. They have good intentions, but they have really let the race slip. They changed the distance of the swim and alot of people show up expecting a 400 yard swim and get an 800. There isn't really any prerace announcements guiding people to the start and telling them things to be aware of. The timing was screwed up. It seems that less and less of the local folks are doing the race. Its a shame. The founder of the race and part owner of the bar is a great guy and has the best intentions, but the folks running the race need some guidance.

  • Comments: 13th Year doing this race - always my favorite (until this year). But hard to fault the race because I performed poorly, 11 minutes slower than prior year. Great post race food, with live music, and great Red Solo Cup Trophies. One disapppointment was the swim was advertised as 1/4 mile some places (which it was supposed to be in the past), but upon arriving race day find out it is 1/2 mile. Some racers said they saw it somewhere, but both distances were listed depending on where you looked

  • Comments: I love this race, good course and best post race party. That said, the organizers have got to do a better job of organization and bike course managments. The long swim upset alot of folks.

  • Comments: I specifically picked this race as my first a number of months back due to the destination. The course was fantastic, no hills which is good for a first timer, and good food/bushwackers after. Also, I think the coffee cup awards stating place were really cool awards.

  • Comments: Even though my race report was depressing, it really is a good race. It's laid back and unique, and I'd still do it again next year. I'm just in a funk right now...I need to put on my big girl panties and suck it up. :-)

  • Comments: I can't believe we got to swim. It was really too rough, but they altered the course to make it somewhat safe? We got bounced and slammed around but it was fun. Bike was toughest ever on this course. Great volunteers and post race party. Oh, we had timing chips for the first time at this race. They were disposable and seemed to work good, really cool. Saw and played with lots of friends. Had too much too drink.

  • Comments: There were a total of 4 us of wearing Mullets for this race. JC won the female overall and James was by far the BEST Mullet Man ever! Why? Here's why: He flew in from Ca the day before so I let him ride the C'dale Slice. Not having bike shoes, we put flat pedals on the bike (it's a sin...I know). Well, he didn't want to have the pedals cut into his running flats, so he decided he was going to ride in sandals. That's right...Sandles! It get's better. Apparently, as he was riding (with his budweiser can in the Bento box) he passed a guy on a P3C with a disc wheel and aero helmet. The guy looks over and said, "Oh FU$% NO. I don't think so". The guy takes off and James ends up passing him a couple of miles down the road. Did I mention that he also had on the mullet under the helmet? So he swam one armed holding the beer out of the water. Then he biked with the beer in sandals and a mullet on. Finally, he ran with the beer and stopped to pose for Nancy at the finish line.

  • Comments: This was all our first Triathlon ever and a fun way to start with a 3rd place trophy and 4th place overall among teams. Goal is to improve for next year and teach those male teams that were 20 years younger to respect their elders! Great info leading into the race by Manatee and others much appreciated. Great race, proper balance between fun and competition though sad to see at least one take advantage of relaxation of monitoring to gain competitive advantage for a trophy. Watch out for the Pasty-White Old Guys in 2009!

  • Comments: This is my favorite race. I think they improved on a couple of things and its still not a tight ship but hey, its a bar putting on a race okay. Hung with friends and drank alot of beer. Enjoyed meating the rock star Marvarnet and his mullet heads and was also very happy to see J D Wright complete his first race.
