Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4:30, couldn't sleep anymore. Packed up my bag, and had 24oz of water around 5am. Got to the parking garage around 6. Ate a banana and walked over to the finish line to check out where I'd be in a few short hours.
Event warmup:

Did some general stretching and kept walking around to get loose. Ate a clif bar about 50 minutes before start. Stopped by the restroom on my way to the corrals.

Comments:

Started out with the 1:50 pace group for the first 3 miles, which started out way too fast. Splits for those miles were: 7:47, 7:48, and 7:44! Paced with another guy in the group that I was talking with , and decided to keep around an 8min pace to stay ahead of the 1:50's and just behind the 1:45's. We held that pace up through mile 11, slowed down just a little through 12 (8:20 pace) and then pushed the tempo up to 7:15 pace for 13, and bring it home for the last .1 with what ever was left.
What would you do differently?:

Push the pace just a few seconds per mile more and keep focus better in the later miles when it matters most.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched, drove home. Decided to take advantage of the nice weather and jumped on my bike for a 30 mile/90 minute spin down the Olentangy Trail; nice weather has been rare this spring for Ohio. Got back just in time to watch the rain start rolling in. Did some more stretching and drank a lot of water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Car accident on Thursday resulted in some general soreness. Lost focus from miles 11 to 12, and let my pace slip a little before recovering.

Event comments:

An excellent event! This was my first "large" race in terms of number of participants, so I was nervous about running in the packs. The organization of the race, the course itself, and the weather (!) were all terrific and helped me to be more relaxed and just run my race (PR'd by over 5 minutes).
