Run
Comments: Madison is such a gorgeous city, so into running/biking/health/nature. The event is so well managed, especially for 20,000 people. It is so crowded on the run, I've never been around so many people. Party college kids line parts of the course- lot of energy. What would you do differently?: 1.I totally left it on the course and I'm ashamed. I tell my players to leave it all on the field and then I go and do the opposite. Doubt was my companion today, and I didn't push until the last mile. Why? I tried to manage the race, my energy, and then I passed the finish line on a dead sprint but not even that tired- that is not right! 2. I had a windbreaker on and had to tie it around my waist and continously mess with it- what a bother. 3. I need a playlist for the MP3. I ended up pushing the wrong button and heard the same No Doubt song 3 times in a row. 4. Focus, the above speak to a lack of focus. 5. Not an excuse, but one has to weave in, out, and around people so often that the steady pace never flows. Post race
Warm down: Drink water, eat fruit, thank God, find wife. What limited your ability to perform faster: My mind, and the aforementioned. The crowd. Event comments: My wife did the 2 mile walk and told me afterwards that she is going to run a 5k someday. I hope she does so badly, she is a better athlete than I am, but smokes, doesn't jog/run. I love her and was glad to be with her. She can do it and I'll do whatever I can to help. Never again will I leave anything on the course, what a terrible feeling, knowing you could do better.
