Pre-race routine:

Ate a light breakfast, almost to light. Got all my stuff loaded in the car and headed out.
Event warmup:

I took the bike out to make sure everything was up to par and when for light jog after. Had some fluids and was ready for the start.
Run
  • 22m 9s
  • 2.83 miles
  • 07m 50s  min/mile
Comments:

I wasn't really use to running on grass/trails in the recent training.
What would you do differently?:

I would of done some trail running to get use to the difference in running.
Transition 1
  • 01m 31s
Comments:

I wasn't really rushing through the transition area
What would you do differently?:

I would of picked a better line from run finish to bike and out onto the course.
Bike
  • 47m 25s
  • 17.5 miles
  • 22.14 mile/hr
Comments:

The wind was a challenge,it was light at beginning and started to pick up. The wet surface didn't help my nerves running different wheel/tire combo then I train with. but overall was a good bike with the winds/wet surface. At about mile 15 I ran out of water and was ready to get back and get some water.
I dropped the bike as I was getting off and landed on my knee. lucky no damage to bike.

What would you do differently?:

I would of went a little bit harder and attack more on the hills. I kinda zoned out and dropped speed when I should off been more focused on speed. And more fluids!!
Transition 2
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

The shot to my knee killed my T2 time, I had to rest and take some time to get shoes on.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really, kind of misfortune with the bike dismount to kill the time.
Run
  • 21m 37s
  • 2.51 miles
  • 08m 37s  min/mile
Comments:

Running on the bum knee was slow to start, lost a lot of time and places right there. but as i got to half way point my knee got going and started to roll, but by that time my body was tired and wanted some fluids.
What would you do differently?:

I would of drank more at the end of the bike so I would of been more hydrated on the run.
Post race
Warm down:

I walked it out and light jog. I was tired!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The whole wet cross-country running killed my time. I would of done a lot better if it was dry.

Event comments:

I enjoyed the race even it wasn't an A+ performance. I used the race to pretty much try out duathlon and wasnt out there to win. I was happy the rain held off until the races and awards was over too.
