Pre-race routine:

Lots of driving to this one...got up at 430am to drive from Nederland, got there with about an hour to spare, huge traffic line up at the gate, paid my $9, got set up at transition and had about 15 minutes to get warm. Had some water and some clif shot blocks about an hour before the race in the car...also listened to some awesome gangster rap to get pumped up...I think all of this was a good combination
Event warmup:

Race for like six and a half minutes...took a pee in the bushes...race started late, so could've warmup up more if I had known...still, not a great warmup
Run
  • 22m 10s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 08s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt solid on the first run, sub 7 minute mile for #1, then dropped 30 second on the pace in the second mile, don't know if the course was mapped correctly
What would you do differently?:

Lose weight..that's it...
Transition 1
  • 01m 35s
Comments:

Ok transition...slower for some reason, don't know why...always think I'm organized, but I'm not...
What would you do differently?:

Not wear shoe covers, not take an flat tools, or have a bento box..
Bike
  • 54m 43s
  • 18.6 miles
  • 20.40 mile/hr
Comments:

Loved the bike, really gained some confidence here, punched it pretty hard and passed a shitload of people, only got passed like 6, 7, 8 times maybe, all my fast as shit bikes...but...I did get a huge sore spot on my right groin because of my seat or position or a combination of both I guess, didn't feel it on the bike, or at least it wasn't a problem then
What would you do differently?:

Get a faster bike, lose weight, maybe train more during the week, felt great training this week
Transition 2
  • 01m 13s
Comments:

This was too slow, my shit was all over the place when I got back
What would you do differently?:

Tools were the problem, ending up having to dump my jersey as well b/c of heat, just need to get a good uniform and go with it...
Run
  • 23m 41s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 37s  min/mile
Comments:

So sore coming off the bike, felt strong, just a weird twinge in my right groin
What would you do differently?:

Lose weight, maybe try a different saddle?
Post race
Warm down:

Nothing really, just tried to stretch out my hamstrings and groin, really painful, got changed, got into the race market

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Weight, perhaps saddle on the bike..

Event comments:

Great race, bike course was a little redundant, lots of traffic, one circuit would have been nice, but tons of volunteers, good mood, relaxed, a race I would love to do again...
