Pre-race routine:

Woke up about 6am, after two nightmares of waking up late and the race not having any water stations. Had two pieces of wheat toast with ANPB, some skim milk. Made sure I had everything I needed.
Event warmup:

Met up with Jeff (F150TPA) while he got his race packet.Walked a bit and stretched. Mom got there about 15 mins before the start. Two minutes before the start I realized I didn't hydrate. Oh Crap!!!
Met with Betsy (betsybromley) just before the start. Thats 2 BTers I get to meet. WooHoo!! Hey guess what, This isn't a chip timed event. So my finish time is about 20 seconds over my actual time is.

Comments:

Must remember to hydrate before a race. How could I forget?!? I started out way too fast, although it didn't feel like it. I was going for 9:30 splits and had 8 minute first mile. I guess I was in a hurry to get to the first water station......oops only water station. Dehyrdation started up the side stitches. Haven't had those since Gasparilla. Ok a lesson has been learned. As soon as I enter the tunnel and see the grass of the field I'm in heaven. Start sprinting, See my wife (everyone else was a blur) look forward for finish line just in time to see I'm about to run a guy over. Oh well quickly go around and cross the finish. Just now realizing I never cramped, and no PF bothering me. Had some tightness in my calves, no biggie.
What would you do differently?:

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate. And pace myself better.
Post race
Warm down:

Only thing on my mind was to find water. What its back by the other endzone.....the one I just ran past?!? All I can find is some Coke sports drink, it will have to do. Got two bananas and time to find everyone. Another lap around the field to find my family including Jeff and Betsy. I was glad to see some hardware on them, both finished within the first 100 for men and women. I'll get there. Got to remind myself that I have only been doing this for 3 months after years of neglect to my body. We all talked for a bit and watched James play on the field. Got more to drink, found water now. Planning set to meet many BTers tomorrow.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Forgeting to Hydrate!!!

Event comments:

Personally I would have liked to see one more drink station. But I should have been better prepared. I could have broken 30 minutes if I would have drank better pre race. I can do better next time, water is the key.
