Swim
Comments: I was a lot better at sighting this time and stayed pretty close to the buoys. I did almost swim over a few folks, but tried to keep pace and avoid hitting them. I did pretty well in keeping a consistent stroke and rhythm. Didn't have to do any survival strokes. Front crawl all the way. What would you do differently?: I need to start training to take less breaths. Still do bi-lateral breathing but know I can hold my breath for a lot longer. I didn't swim as fast as I had wanted to, but my performance was consistent with the last tri. Transition 1
Comments: The run up to transition seemed longer than the rookie, but I jogged it all the way up. What would you do differently?: Not sure. Maybe run faster? Bike
Comments: Felt awesome to go faster on the same course. I think having the right size tires, experience with the course, and the adrenaline rush I get from riding helped me ride fast. What would you do differently?: Pass slower riders to give myself more clearance on the corners. I had to slow down a lot to give them room/make their turn. Transition 2
Comments: Did this transition a little slower than last time. I took a GU and I think thats what may have slowed me down. The run from the bike exit to my rack was also longer. What would you do differently?: Take the Gu on the bike before dismounting. Run
What would you do differently?: I need to start doing more run bricks. But did pretty solidly, maybe less than a minute off of my normal 5K race pace. Did better than expected. Post race
Warm down: Drank lots of water and a recovery drink. Walked around a bit to cool down and found a shady spot to sit with the best boyfriend in the world! :) What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing specific. Just need to keep training to get faster. Event comments: It was organized well, but I guess i'm spoiled from my first tri experience with High-Five Events. We had to body mark ourselves and the transition area at racking the day before was not being monitored (non athletes were going in/out). It may have been from a lack of available volunteers. And there was no beer. :( But overall, it was a fun experience and the swim volunteers at the start were very encouraging and pumping us girls up. They did have a ton of swim support in the form of "swim angels", which came in handy for some who got scared/off rhythm. Last updated: 2011-05-01 12:00 AM

Woke up, ate a slice of toast w/ peanut butter. My SO brought me some coffee and drove me to the race! I love him :)
Bike was racked the day before. Just had to lay out all my stuff at transition. Did some yoga stretches, a plank, and some barefoot run drills to warmup.
