Age Group Rank = 8/14
Pre-race routine:

Up early. Oatmeal, egg whites and milk for breakfast. 3 20oz bottles of gatorade throughout morning. 2 Gels prior to race and a 5 hr energy about 30 min b4.
Event warmup:

Couple laps in the pool and some stretcing.
Swim
  • 08m 55s
  • 440 yards
  • 02m 02s / 100 yards
Comments:

Fastest swim at Sullivan to date. Worked more on form and long smooth strokes instead of a higher stroke rate. Seemed to work. Didn't wear out and was my fastest Sullivan swim yet.
What would you do differently?:

Trian more ahead of time.
Transition 1
  • 01m 15s
Comments:

One of my fastest T1's to date.
What would you do differently?:

Not sure. Maybe run faster to bike but Sullivan has a long run to get from pool to Transition
Bike
  • 36m 24s
  • 11.7 miles
  • 19.29 mile/hr
Comments:

Had a hard time with the inclines into the wind. Other than that bike went well. Not happy my average pace didnt go up from last year with all the bike work I put in over the winter.
What would you do differently?:

Used the unflavored Pedialyte. Will not use that again. Horrible stuff. More hill training.
Transition 2
  • 00m 43s
Comments:

Smooth transition. Almost forgot my Garmin. Had to drink some water b/c I could not stand the pedialyte on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Flavored pedialyte so I don't have to drink right b4 run.
Run
  • 24m 52s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 01s  min/mile
Comments:

Run did not start off well. legs felt ok after the bike but I had a horrible stitch about .75 into run. Took about a mile to get rid of it. After that run felt good. First two miles were right at 8:30 and the last was 7:30.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more on bike so I dont have to drink right b4 run. Think that contributed to the stitch. More brick workouts.
Post race
Warm down:

Walking, water, and food.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Stitch on run. Lack of brick workouts.

Event comments:

Will be back next year. I still want some hardware from this race.
