Total Time = 1h 40m 7s
Overall Rank = 14/277
Age Group = 30-35
Age Group Rank = 3/37
Pre-race routine:

Woke at 4:30 (not counting awake time with Tenley at midnight and 2:30)
Banana, toast with jelly and a bottle of gatorade on way to race site.
Had a bottle of water as well and a power bar around 6:45.
Event warmup:

Light jog with two race pace pick ups. Light spin and a descent swim.
Swim
  • 15m
  • 1000 yards
  • 01m 30s / 100 yards
Comments:

I think I went to hard which killed my run. I wasn't breathing super hard but I am sore the next morning in my shoulders. Drafted off Chris White(I think) for a bit and then one other guy on the back stretch.
What would you do differently?:

maybe a little slower
Transition 1
  • 01m 47s
Comments:

Getting feet in shoes was bad. One shoe hit the ground making me almost stop immediately when I jumped on.
What would you do differently?:

Thinking about cancelling flying mount....
Bike
  • 52m 7s
  • 19 miles
  • 21.87 mile/hr
Comments:

Didn't feel like I had my legs until about mile 12-14. Pushed it a bit on the homestretch.
Good and fast time, but I think I'm better than this...maybe the two weeks prior doing multiple 2.0-2.5+ hour rides made me a bit tired.
What would you do differently?:

Forgot to stretch my legs a little toward the end of the bike in prep for run. Adding in lack of swimming with huge bike amounts for the past two weeks probably affected the bike.
Transition 2
  • 00m 44s
Comments:

Moved up one place during transition. Had a top 10 fastest time
What would you do differently?:

Stretch legs before coming in to T2.
Run
  • 30m 30s
  • 4 miles
  • 07m 37s  min/mile
Comments:

Very tough. Stomache was tight. Legs were tight. Feet wouldn't move. HR was high.
What would you do differently?:

Run more in prep....maybe some hills, not that you can duplicate that hill!!! : )
Post race
Warm down:

Stop and bent over and grabbed the knees to try and catch my breath.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Poor run, could have been due to lack of swim training prior.

Event comments:

Great race even better for the price. Others from out of town rant and rave about the race location and how wonderful it is.
