Swim
Comments: I felt good but I also think I could have gone faster...this was my longest OWS so I was a bit intimidated. I did do a good job of reducing my kick to save my legs. What would you do differently?: Yelled at the guy that stood up (The water was only about 3 feet deep in some areas) so that he could wave to his family and take a picutre..HELLO some of us were trying to swim here.. Transition 1
Comments: I had decided to take a little extra time in T1 and T2 to make sure that I had all my stuff on, comfortable, etc. I think this paid off especially since it was pouring rain as I left Transition Bike
Comments: This took all I had in me to keep going..mentally. The weather and road conditions and all of the ambulances, crashed racers and racers that just quit and waited for the Sag wagon freaked me out! But we had driven 600 + miles, this was my first olympio and there was no way I was going to not finnish. I was very conservative and did not use my aero bars at all What would you do differently?: Done a "no-rain" dance :) Transition 2
Comments: Again...took my time...used my fuel belt which I have never done in a tri but I wanted to make sure I got water when I needed it. What would you do differently?: Ran through the MUD faster :) Run
Comments: This was a great run for me...maybe not speed wise...but confidence wise. I had a huge smile on my face because it all clicked nutrition wise. Plus the run was my favorite part in this race because I was passing people the entire time What would you do differently?: Nothing...I really liked this run! Post race
Warm down: Found Tammy because she finnished right behind me....went and got our bikes and went up to the room asap....jodi luckily figured out that is what we did and came up when she finnished What limited your ability to perform faster: Weather...but that affected everyone.,..I think there were close to 50 dnfs and I am sure there were many who didn;t even start Event comments: Except for the mis-measurement and that they had us swimming in lightening I thought his was a very well run event. I guess this is the first year that Ironman ran it and they did a good job. FOr me the race was a confidence builder since it was my first true Olympic distance...I nailed the nutrition...fought through some tough race conditions and qualified for the 5i50 AG National Championships at HYVee (that was very unexpected and very exciting)!
