Run
Comments: Some how I didn't get my Garmin started. Started fairly close to the front to avoid getting penned in. Split first mile in 7:38 which was right around where I wanted to be. Must have died after than (clock was a hair over 16 min at the 2 mile mark). I tried to concentrate on running the tangents well and tried not to fade too badly. What would you do differently?: I should have done a longer warm-up. Also I should do some speedwork before next year's event. Post race
Warm down: Walked through the long finish chute with Jim. Got a bottle of water, a banana, and a fruit cup. Walked back to tent. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of speed work. I think I lost a little bit of mental focus between miles 2-3 - probably could have pushed harder here. Event comments: I was expecting to be slower than last year as I hadn't done any speedwork. I think I had more miles in, but nothing fast. The women's team was a little sparse this year and we ended up 8th out of 166 teams. The men won. No mixed team this year. Regardless of how we finished, it is still a fun event and Scott brings good beer! Last updated: 2011-05-23 12:00 AM

This is an evening event. We left work ~3:30 to make sure we got up there before the roads closed, so we had quite a bit of time to kill once we got there. Hung out with team - picked up our shirts; About 6:30 we headed over to the start, stopped at the porta potties before a short warm-up. Ate a PBJ sandwich in the car on the way up, a banana when we first got there, and a pack of sport beans about 40 minutes before the race.
Ran just a little over a 1/4 mile with Beth as warmup
