Swim
Comments: Decided to try and mix it up w/ everyone else this time, which worked out mostly OK...nice to be more in the pack and be able to follow the bubbles. Did get kicked in the face before the first buoy and had to reset goggles, but recovered quickly and swam on. What would you do differently?: More OWS practice, swim coaching would be good at some point. Transition 1
Comments: Tested my blood sugar, which slows things down. What would you do differently?: Move faster. Bike
Comments: Disappointed that I didn't average 16 mph. What would you do differently?: Not much in the race, but need to work on bike fitness a lot! Transition 2
Run
Comments: Decent run...walked a little and had a strong finish. Caught up w/ Becky in the last 100 yards or so and we crossed the line together. Fun! What would you do differently?: I'm happy with the run given the heat. Post race
Warm down: Hang out, sat in front of fan at Knobbies & Slicks tent. Visited a little and then rode back to the camper. What limited your ability to perform faster: Heat and lack of bike fitness. Event comments: Very fun race. Announcer cracked me up about us not being the old lady wave, but the hot chick wave instead. Awesome volunteers passing out ice, cold towels, spraying down our feet, you name it. Very nice event! Last updated: 2011-05-24 12:00 AM

Camped Saturday evening with Becky and Kerry. Temp was 106 when we arrived at the campground. Thank God for an air conditioned camper. Walked to the lake to swim Sat evening. Felt like bath water...very warm! Race morning -- up at 4ish for coffee and brkfst, then rode our bikes to the race site to get set up.
Swam around a little bit while other waves were going off.
