Swim
Comments: I got caught off guard by the start, so I was behind a wall of swimmers, but the wave wasn't all that big so by the time I cut along the shore, I had clear water. By the time I hit the turn in the cove, I was with a woman who was swimming a perfect pace for me. I ended up swimming on her feet for an entire loop. I lost her after the turn in the cove on the second loop, but found someone else after that. This was the best job of drafting I've ever done in a swim. Felt pretty good (especially without a wetsuit) and was able to push for most of the swim. The only issue I had was that without the wetsuit I kept locking my knees to keep my legs up. By the second loop my right knee was killing me and I had to do an exaggerated kick to loosen it up. Every time I tried not to lock it, I would lose concentration on my stroke and slow way down. I'll have to work on that. Fairly happy with my time though. On pace for a 1:11+ IM swim, but that is without a wetsuit and it's still pretty early in the year. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Post race
Warm down: Hung out with everyone and grabbed some food What limited your ability to perform faster: Training Event comments: This is a great race. The only reason I wouldn't give it a '5' is that it's pretty expensive, but it was very well run and had good food and giveaways. Last updated: 2011-05-31 12:00 AM

Checked in and hung out for a while talking to everyone else. There were tons of people there so it was fun just hanging out. There was a lot of talk of how warm the water was and who was going to go with or without a wetsuit.
In the end I decided no wetsuit since it was warm and Cozumel is not going to be wetsuit legal.
None. Got in the water with my wave and by the time I swam 10 meters to the start they yelled for us to go.
