  • Comments: Nice race to have on the doorstep. Looking forward to a 5km next year. Well organised and wave system worked well without too much thumping and jostling at the start.

  • Comments: This is a great race. The only reason I wouldn't give it a '5' is that it's pretty expensive, but it was very well run and had good food and giveaways.

  • Comments: Great parctice in open water locally. Which is all I am using this for. Cost is little much though.

  • Comments: Again, well organized by Reston Masters. Just how a swim event/meet should be run. Good food, fast posting of finish times. Will be back next year.

  • Comments: This race was more for my confidence building than anything else. I got out of the water knowing that I would have gone .4 miles further for an IronMan distance.

  • Comments: Loved the silicone swim cap instead of the cheapo latex so I didn't have to wear 2 caps.

  • Comments: In two weeks, I went from my worst race to a PR. Ironic that the PR was on a lake swim, when it was a lake swim that had kicked my tail at Luray. Additionally, it was the first time that I can recall that I actually passed someone - in any event - and the first time that I didn't finish last. Not that there's anything with that, as they say on Seinfeld. It's just that it provided me with an indicia of improvement when I sorely needed it. But the best of all - this was the first time that I felt like a "real" swimmer. No garbage stroke, no panic. I just did a little breaststroke to warm up and took my time getting started. I tried to ignore other swimmers passing me and just focused on being loose and comfortable in the water. Y'know, it's one thing to talk about being comfortable in the water, it's quite different to actually *feel* it. And feel it, I did. I don't know how it happened, but I just started to go with the flow (bad swimming pun - sorry). About 1/4 way into it,

  • Comments: This is a great race for practicing open water swimming. It would be great prior to doing a tri. The waves are small, the lake calm and you don't have to do anything else at the end.
