Swim
Comments: Official timer didn't get my swim split but i know I came in a few seconds before someone in my age group and based on my own watch and my swim & T1 splits I know it was about 9:23, making my T1 about 1:22 What would you do differently?: I had a great swim though I thought I might be a little faster. My HR was out of control when I got out of the water. My first reading once my HR got picked up 1.5 minutes into the bike was 168bpm. Too high or so I thought. Transition 1
Comments: Good all around T1. I would have been around 6th in AG. I ran out of the water and into transition taking googles and cap off. Kept it simple...race belt, helmet and glasses. I couldn't have been much faster. Jumped on the bike and took off not getting into shoes until good quarter mile from transition. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: Great day for a ride. Took this as fast as I could. My HR averaged 166 bpm during the ride...way too high or so I thought but my plan was to go all out and suffer on the run. Passed many and didn't get passed once. Some of the official times for the bike it looks as though some athletes did only 1 loop. In any event, I was averaging about 210w and was averaging closer to 25mph overall according to my garmin and had 11.2 miles for the total distance. Great ride. Easy flat course. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 2
Comments: Hit this perfectly. don't know how I could get much faster and wonder how some people did this in 30 seconds. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: This is my weakness. Tbe master's winner was :45 in front of me on the run and I saw him outside transition when I racked my back. The winner in my AG passed me at about 1.5 miles and I had no chance at keeping up with him at a 5:55 pace. I passed 4th place in my AG with .25 miles to go and held a 6:04 pace for the last quarter mile (5:42 for the last .15 miles) to hold off 3rd place by 3 seconds. Ended with my HR at 187. My LT Threshold last calculated was 173. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Post race
Warm down: Ran for 10 minutes about 1.1 miles. Sat around and hung out with wife and friends. What limited your ability to perform faster: nothing. Improved over last year's time by 4:45. Huge improvement. Event comments: Done this race 3 years in a row and love it. I'll be back. Last updated: 2011-06-01 12:00 AM

Get to the race 1.5 hours before start. Run for 10-15 minutes. Swim for 5 minutes. Set up in transition. Ran into Ty/Tati and talked with a few friends, who reminded me its a sprint....go all out all the time.
I ended up only running about 1.5 miles in 13 minutes with some openers in there to get the blood flowing. Then swam about 350 yards to get the arms working. Felt like it was going to be a good day.
