Stood around and talked to Jamie and Mark... Stretched a little and tried to talk myself into this race being fun- in the rain and cold!!

Comments:

I couldn't see out of my goggles because they were already foggy and nasty because of the rain. I was washed getting into the water and never recovered. I couldn't get into any rhythm at all and kept breathing every other stroke. I got washed again getting out and was just pissed the whole swim
What would you do differently?:

Swim in the ocean at least once before a race like this.

It sucked running up the beach in my wetsuit- down the stairs and into transition. I couldn't get clipped in as my petals were wet and I kept slipping.

The first 4 miles felt slow and I couldn't get my legs warmed up. I was cold and snot was running down my face as I had been under the weather the couple days before the race.

Being sick, cold rain and a bad attitude

Event comments:

Wow, weather really hampered this race. Maybe it was just my attitude. I'll do it again next year but I hope its warmer then!!

Performance:
Course: The 1st 2 miles were some on the road and then on the beach and back. That was hard as the sand was soaking wet and you sank as you ran. The stairs were hard and had to go slow so I wouldn't slip. The last mile felt ok- it was pouring rain and I was freezing cold. Never was in any sort of rhythm at all.
