Comments:

Not too bad considering I haven't swam a stroke in 10 months. I could really feel the fatigue in my shoulders. Crazy, guess I should swim some if I'm going to do these things some more next year.

Transition 1

Comments:

Very happy with T-1. Since I have moved almost exclusively to ultrarunning my tri skills have gotten rusty but this transition was much better than my last T1 10 months ago.

Comments:

I'm happy with my bike performance as well. I probably could have taken as much as 3 minutes off this ride had I been training like I used to. I think what was hardest was feeling breathless on the bike, I've kind of lost the ability to tolerate that very well but overall it was a good ride.

Transition 2
  • 00m 47s
Comments:

Another good transition. Granted, the transition was probably the smallest one I have ever seen...oh, I just looked at the results again and I'm about 10 to 15 seconds slower in T2 than everyone who had finish times withing 10 minutes of mine. Maybe T2 wasn't so great.

Run
  • 24m 47s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 59s  min/mile
Comments:

It was kind of a tough run and I'm back to feeling a bit awakward running off the bike but I was able to hold off two teammates who were trying to chase me down (one of which actually started 3 minutes behind me so he beat me by about 2 minutes.)
What would you do differently?:

Trained on the bike and the swim, my running is fine.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

A complete lack of training on the bike and the swim and transitions.

Event comments:

It's a REALLY small race in its second year but it is very well done and it is a very nice venue for this part of New Mexico. I drove 2 hours from Albuquerque to do the race and it was well worth it.

Course: Kind of a fish hook shape with a long out and back section into the wind heading out and thankfully with the wind on the way back. The course had some long, shallow rollers the whole way. Not enough to be really hard but enough to make you really work.
