Pre-race routine:

Woke up early, had a 20 minute drive to the park. It was pouring first thing this morning. Stopped and grabbed a bagel and had some water. Got to the park at 6:45AM, 15 minutes before the park opened. They let us in anyways. I waited around for about 15 minutes before getting out. Rain started to stop. Setup Transition area, then went to get body mark. I was in the second wave.

I was pretty disappointed with the swim. It set the stage for the rest of the race for me.
What would you do differently?:

Practice swimming in the open water with the wetsuit. I really need to get that down.

Comments:

This was the first time getting out of this wetsuit. I like how it came off at the ankles. I wasn't trusting that I could just yank my foot through and instead was just trying to slowing pull it out. Over all I wasn't really pushing for speed through the transitions. I was just cruising through it.
What would you do differently?:

I think I would like to try to bike with no socks on, as well as try to mount with my shoes attached. This will cut down on this T time.

The bike was just how we practiced it the week before. I wasn't really looking at the time because I felt the race was over based on my swim performance.
What would you do differently?:

I would work on just overall speed on the bike. I will want to work with biking with no socks on, along with the dismounting with keeping my shoes clipped in.

Over all it went pretty smoothly, I didn't really have any problems with changing over shoes and getting my helmet off.
What would you do differently?:

I will want to work with running with no socks on since I'm going to try to do that with biking.

I felt slower then what my time really showed. Overall I was pleased with the time.
What would you do differently?:

I would have my Garmin on so I can tell my pace and distance. I couldn't tell how fast/slow I was going.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I think the swim really messed me up, since I felt it went bad the rest of my race felt bad. I just need to work on that portion of the the tri and I think I can really do well.

The race was very fair, it had a little of everything.

Course: Swim was counter clockwise, the water was very calm and I was in the second wave. As soon as the horn went off I got in about two strokes before running into people. At that point I started to have breathing problems. I couldn't seem to catch my breath at all. I had to do the entire swim using breast stroke or back stroke. It seemed like my suite was constricting my lungs so they couldn't expand to get air. It set the tone for the rest of the race.
