  • 525 yards

Comments:

Good pool swim. 9:16 compared to 9:41 last year and 14:11 two years ago. Yeah, I'd say that's an improvement.
What would you do differently?:

I would want to be in a group of people that actually know their swim time. I passed the woman in front of me, who was sure she was faster, and the woman who wanted to be last because she was slow, passed everyone.
Transition 1
  • 01m 43s
Comments:

Always check your gearing before you start. I got to the mount line and my gearing was too high, so I couldn't pedal. I veered to get out of the way, came off the bike, circled the pedals to try again and threw off the chain. Had to reset the chain, then try again.
Bike
  • 36m 43s
  • 12.1 miles
  • 19.77 mile/hr
Comments:

A very good bike, and about 1 MPH faster than last year. I focused on fast corners and accelerating out of the corners. It seemed to work.
Transition 2
  • 01m 57s
Comments:

Get back to my spot and someone has parked her bike in my place on top of my stuff. Thanks. I had to lift the bike over to the other side of the rack, and of course it fell, taking down the other bikes.

Just rack your bike in your spot. How hard is that??

(Distance adjusted to bike computer distance. 3 years running I get 12.1 miles)
Run
  • 27m 4s
  • 3.2 miles
  • 08m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

I start off the first half mile as a recover from the bike pace. I guess I just never broke out of that mental space. I lost 2 minutes on this run compared to last year, and I should have been at least a minute faster. I'm not sure what went awry, but I seem to have lost mental focus. Not sure.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

My swim was good and on target. My bike was good and on target. In T1, my bike mount cost me about a minute. In T2, the joker that parked her bike on my stuff cost me about a minute. My loss of mental focus on the run lost me at least 2 minutes.

I should have done better.

Event comments:

I think this is one of the best run events in Boulder County. Of all those I've done (tris, 10Ks, 5Ks, half-marathon, etc.) this is very near if not at the top.
