Swim
Comments: Young Life screwed this swim up bad. It was by far the worst and most disgusting lake I've ever been in, and the swim course was terrible. About 2/3's of the course was in water 3 ft. deep with weeds coming up at least a foot or more. I couldn't make a full stroke without grabbing the bottom or a handful of nasty weeds. The course was also very poorly marked and the distance is questionable. It looked long from the beach, and my time reflects that it was long. There were 4 buoys total to mark this swim. I watched about 6 guys turn too early, don't know what happened to them. What would you do differently?: Out of my control. Transition 1
Comments: I tore the velcro neck flap off my wetsuit by mistake trying to take it off. What would you do differently?: Just move faster. Bike
Comments: Bike went alright, I went at it hard and the only thing that held me back again was my poor performance on hills. What would you do differently?: I just need more time in the saddle to work on my legs and hill performance. Transition 2
Comments: I purposefully took my time to get some glide on my feet, some socks and to get my HR down after the bike. What would you do differently?: Not get blisters so I wouldn't need socks and body glide. Run
Comments: My best Olympic run so far, but still a horrid time. I've been wanting my run under an hour, and I missed it by 6 seconds today. I've really got to get a watch to wear during races. What would you do differently?: Not walk the water stations. Train harder. Post race
Warm down: Walked around, stretched, laid down on the ground to get over a bit of nausea. What limited your ability to perform faster: Still under-trained in the run and bike. Quite obvious for a guy who wins his age group in the swim yet overall is in the bottom 25%. Event comments: I give this race an overall low rating because of the debacle of a swim course and nasty lake. That, and the post-race food for competitors was hot dogs. Really? Couldn't have had anything better than that? Unfortunately I have to say I will not plan on this race again next year. Last updated: 2011-06-06 12:00 AM

Had a Clif bar and breakfast at the hotel around 6:30 then headed over to the race site. Got in plenty early to set up transition in a good spot then stand around waiting for the pre-race meeting and start.
Swam just a little to get in the water, that's it.
