  • Post race activities? Below average
  • Overall course based on my ability: Just right

  • Comments: I give this race an overall low rating because of the debacle of a swim course and nasty lake. That, and the post-race food for competitors was hot dogs. Really? Couldn't have had anything better than that? Unfortunately I have to say I will not plan on this race again next year.

  • Comments: Most people hated the swim - weeds were bad, poorly marked for the Olympic distance

  • Comments: Race was nicely structured. Number of athletes was just right, and volunteers aplenty. I expected to see more people/families on the bike/run route cheering, but didn't see any, except at the finish (for the most part).

  • Comments: Just that one confusion at the start of the second bike lap was the only thing that was messed up about the race. It was pretty big though. Also, the buoys in the water were pretty small. If it wasnt for the crowd in front of me, I would have never found them in the water. Of course, it is entirely possible that this is because of my poor sighting skills.

  • Comments: For having this event for 7 years they missed some big details. Having the oly run out and the bike in on the same road can work, but not when the lane is not closed to traffic and Sat morning lake traffic is picking up. Observed several close calls with runners and bikers as well as bikers and cars (cars turning right into parking lot in front of racers). Had sprint runners crossing the road across the bike lane on the other side. They should put down a dismount line further back from the sidewalk on the street, instead they had an 8x11 paper sign right on the sidewalk that said dismount here. I knew it was coming up but it still snuck up on me. The signs for the oly run out and run in were quite big, but not in the runner's sight line. I had to scan past all the other signs that are also the same size and type and slow down for a sec to see the oly directions. There was a long line for the food, and it took close to 15 min to get the chow. Maybe not such a big deal except that

  • Comments: Small race but enjoyable despite the conditions. The swim course really could have been marked better and they should have done a better job at clearing the weeds in front of the beach. Other than that, everything was pretty good.

  • Comments: The swim course needs changing and needs more buoys. The run course needs to be better controlled so there aren't runners, and cyclists on the same part of road with cars going by as well. There wasn't any food right at the race finish, just water. About 30 minutes after I finished a free "meal" was served to participants, but it was pretty mediocre. Glad I did this race, but I don't plan on doing it again.

  • Comments: I hate to give this local race an 'avg' rating and say that I thought it was a bit unorganized, but honestly that is how I felt. 1 - no water available pre event. This is big, IMO. You can't expect everyone to bring their own water. The water in the public bath house was even turned off. I asked one of the gals at the check-in and she said the trailer was locked, they don't have anyway to get into it, but that the water would be available for post race (which it was) ... unacceptable at an endurance event. 2 - No traffic monitor at the final left hand turn on end of the 'loop'. VERY dangerous blind corner ... luckily motorists were going slow in that region, as that left turn was fast and could have resulted in seriuos problems. 3 - Maybe it was just me, but I saw only two people monitoring Olympic course swimmers (one in a boat and another in a kayak). They were only on the 2nd to 3rd buoy line - didn't notice anyone on the turn to 'home' 4 - Need a marker on the

  • Comments: I was scared for my safety when I drove the bike course. Three stoplights through town and several left turns. My fear was for naught. They closed the course in town and blocked traffic. The bike course was well managed and traffic was very well directed.

  • Comments: This was definitely a fun race. The cold weather made for a tough start but I really enjoyed the course. The bike course went through the area of WeFest which is a HUGE country musical festival held in early August. The race staff was awesome, the lunch held afterwards was delicious, and I will definitely be signing up for this one again in future years.
