Swim
Comments: The swim was after the bike. It was hot out, so I was sweaty after the bike and I had to put on my wetsuit. I had a fair amount of sunscreen on, so that helped, but I also sprayed on a fair amount of Tri Swim Spray and my wetsuit slid on just fine. Jumping in the cold water at first was not bad, but a few sudden moves and I could feel the potential cramps. There were racers cramping all around me and I ran into a few of them. My goal here was to cruise through the swim and not to cramp. What would you do differently?: I forgot to take my Salt Sticks to help prevent cramps. Transition 1
Comments: This was a bike to swim transition. Not ever practiced. Luckily my suit went on rather easily with a combination of sunscreen and Tri Swim spray. Lisa helped zip me in on the way to the water. She said I looked faster than most other racers doing this, so I am happy with that. What would you do differently?: SALT STICKS...I forgot them. Bike
Comments: I found out about 20 minutes before that Lisa was pulling out of the race. So my head was all over the place and not really focused. So, I got on the bike and rode. I decided to ride this one rather hard. Being he 2nd race of the day and still having a 1/2 Iron tomorrow, hard was a relative term for that day. I only got passed once and I passed a lot of racers. This is also one that started teams and drafting. So, I am happy with this knowing that I raced it hard. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Remember to bring Salt Sticks for the swim. Transition 2
Comments: This was a swim to run transition. I was warned not to make any sudden moves due to cramps. They started when I bent over to get my wetsuit off my heels. Hamstrings cramped. I sat down and I cramped more and I was stuck on the ground for a little bit not being able to move. I finally got it off and my shoes on. Once I got moving the cramps went away. What would you do differently?: SALT STICKS...I forgot them. Run
Comments: Goal here was to cruise through this run and have some legs left for tomorrow. What would you do differently?: Not much, just really wanted to cruise through this run, and stay healthy for tomorrow. Post race
Warm down: Ate at the race site and had and Ultragen bottle. Also got a massage. Rode back up the hill. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing Event comments: Really different with switching the bike and swim. Last updated: 2011-06-07 12:00 AM
