  • Comments: This is really turning in to a very cool, very fun weekend. Can't say enough about how well organized this race is. Really top notch and one of the best overally race experiences I have ever had.

  • Comments: This one sucked because the biggest memory I have is of how horribly awful the bike was. The swim wasn't too bad and the run felt good (from a stress release), but I was so upset by and about the bike - it was the only thing I could focus on. And I really, really hated the bike and those hills. They were too steep. It was too hard. I had to mash too hard. it was way more effort than I should have had to put out. I'm not a good climber -- but especially not steep ones like that.

  • Comments: Goodness, this is a tough weekend! Fatigue is setting in and I was so bummed to not get my massage. Dinner was really nice with Steve, Dave, Chuck, Marie, Mindy and Eric. I did get a chance to roll a bit afterwards. Then I had to get all my crap down to another room before heading to bed. Tired. Have to do a half in the morning, and I'm tired.

  • Comments: So at the start of this race we are in transition and the guy beside starts talking about the blood on his bike and i asked what happened and see his leg...well he slipped on the gravel going up Thompson Hill in this morning race....i even warned the fool about it. I so bad wanted to say I told you so....so then he starts talking about this bike leg for this race and how it couldnt be that tough of a climb....well he says its not as steep as Thompson so it couldnt be that bad...so I told him even though its not as steep the darn thing goes on for over 2miles and that is the second climb...the first one is probably a mile itself. But he didnt believe me.....funny thing I didnt see him at all Sunday morning race? Hmmmmm wonder where he went? **339 out of the 345 started this race and 335 finished this race**

  • Comments: It wasn't exactly staring into the face of the abyss, but I was not looking forward to Sunday at this point. Decided to self-medicate: Advil gel caps and a frosty and a bad decision to not call the wife and I would wake up tomorrow to see what kind of man I was.

  • Comments: Second race of the day so you knew what to expect. I knew where the aid stations were located. The bike-swim-run format was really cool and HFP did a really good job organizing everyone.

  • Comments: This is my first DNF in a Tri, and my first FOBK (fished out by kayak). At the time, my pride was hurt. I *WANTED* to finish. But, I can't help what I can't help, and I know I did everything within reasonable bounds of safety to keep going. In retrospect, I think 3 things brought this day to an end early. 1) The 52 miles of bumps and jiggling in the aero position from the two saturday rides were more than I was trained for. The accumulated fatigue in my neck and shoulders likely helped predispose me toward re-injury. This was preventable, if I had just trained more on the bike. 2) The wetsuit wrestling match that caused the shoulder to pop /reinjure was just a quirk; it could have happened before any event, or not at all. I thought it was completely healed, and maybe it was, but when it's time, it's time. Not sure I could have done much about this. 3) The cramps that finally brought me down may have been preventable, and may not have been. I could have gone slower on the
