Total Time = 1h 48m 41s
Overall Rank = 780/1464
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 83/?
Pre-race routine:

Lack of sleep, up at 3:45am to be at event for 5AM. Stressed over bike valve breaking off during tire inflation. Very little stretching of legs pre-race, which I'd come to regret.
Swim
  • 11m 30s
  • 528 yards
  • 02m 11s / 100 yards
Comments:

I am really psyched about my swim. This is my first OWS that I felt really comfortable doing and my breathing was great. I had an awesome swim and now all I need to do is get faster.
What would you do differently?:

sip more water pre-race, try not to be so nervous! This swim was a major confidence-booster for the next OWS
Transition 1
  • 04m 16s
Comments:

I was mostly prepared pre-race but I futs around with my bag trying to find a gel-pack as I was hungry.
Bike
  • 56m 7s
  • 15 miles
  • 16.04 mile/hr
Comments:

Still need more hill training. I was *really* fast on the downhills and so-so on the hills. I passed a lot of people but the elites and better hill-climbers passed me.
Transition 2
  • 02m 52s
Comments:

Good T2 but still had to stop and stretch calves due to extreme tightness.
Run
  • 33m 56s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 10m 57s  min/mile
What would you do differently?:

Need more bike/run brick workouts.
Post race
Warm down:

Minor stretching and walking around, drank water and took advantage of the athlete food tent :)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My knees and the usual pain I've had with them all year, my lack of hill training and bike/run brick workouts.

Event comments:

This has been my best Triathlon yet, especially for the swim. I really enjoyed this race but I absolutely despised having to drive up the day before to "register"...Very annoying!
