Comments:

Decent swim... happy with effort. Had big time trouble sighting anything so just bascially followed others. Not sure why I couldn't find the buoys until I was alomst there and same at the finish.
What would you do differently?:

Figure out sighting?
Transition 1
  • 04m 44s
Comments:

Almost fell apart here. Doing great, feeling great. Thinking today is great weather and maybe a PR day. As I'm heading out with the bike, I get stopped by an official due to helmet being unstrapped... huh??? I always strap my helmet and sure I did. Sure enough, it's unstrapped and the %&*&#% clip is gone!!! No way I can strap it. I put my bike to the side of the area and ran back looking for the strap. Nowhere to be found. Thinking to myself the race is now over. I remember my race belt has a clip so took it off, tied to my bike helmet and got going.
What would you do differently?:

Check stupid helmet strap... In the grand scheme, this way probably a 3 minute error. Dealt with it okay but threw me off for a bit.
Bike
  • 54m 28s
  • 17.2 miles
  • 18.95 mile/hr
Comments:

Not a bad bike for me... just haven't put in my miles this year. I was hammering a bit trying to make up lost time. Need to corner and turn better.
Transition 2
  • 01m 34s
Comments:

Good T2... the clip came right of the helmet and I put it back on the race belt while running.
Run
  • 35m 38s
  • 4.9 miles
  • 07m 16s  min/mile
Comments:

Told myself this is where race starts for me... felt good and not over-heated (weather was great). Passed a ton of people and only passed by 2 people. Very pleased with the run.
Post race
Warm down:

Got 2 nutri-grain bars and water. Watched sister-in-law and some friends finish.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Bad T1, and could train more.

Event comments:

7th year in a row I've done this race... still enjoy it every time!
