Swim
Comments: Watched the elites come in and said hi to my family one last time, then missed my spot in the start line by about 10 guys. In my rush to get in the water I forgot to start my watch until I was about 45 seconds in, but it also didn't give me time to get nervous about the swim. I felt this swim went well for me; found my openings, swam pretty straight, rounded the buoys tight, and found some feet to follow. What would you do differently?: I feel I only have one pace when it comes to swimming hard, and I need to get better at bi-lateral breathing when the water is cold. Transition 1
Comments: Found my spot no problem. Suit got stuck, and one of my shoes didn't want to go on. What would you do differently?: Put bodyglide on my ankles to see if that helps get my wetsuit off faster. And I'd really like to try tri specific shoes, but maybe next year. Bike
Comments: Light rain most of the time on the bike, just enough to keep the roads wet. Had Gatorade in my bottle, and got just over half of it down with no problems. What would you do differently?: Just get more experience and learn how hard to push. Transition 2
Comments: Took the time to use my inhaler and fix the tounge on one shoe. What would you do differently?: Not much, my next pair of shoes will be the asics tri noosa (sp?). Run
Comments: First mile is mostly uphill, and it felt a little slow, but I pushed the right amount and felt good out there. Sipped and splashed at each water stop. What would you do differently?: This was not a goal race, so no need to kill myself. Post race
Warm down: Walk, stretch, get food for Hazel. Found a couple BT'ers and chatted. What limited your ability to perform faster: I did okay today. Event comments: Nice, challenging course, plenty of room in transition, and family friendly. One complaint; it'd be nice to have a visual, or the anouncer talking about where they are in the start order, but I'll own my part in missing my spot. I'll do this one again, its fun to see the people shooting for the BOTUS spots. Last updated: 2011-06-17 12:00 AM

Half a bagel and pop on the drive. Half a larabar and water while setting up transition. Gel about 20 minutes before the start.
Easy run of 10 minutes, bikes the fist mile of the course and back, then swam out maybe 75 yards and back a few times.
