Swim
Comments: I was happy with my swim time. It is difficult swimming in a pack of other swimmers, but we all managed to get along. What would you do differently?: Not worry so much about sighting. Next time, I won't worry about sighting about couple strokes, I will delay my sighting to the 4th or 5th stroke. Transition 1
Comments: I don't know what my transition time was, but it was probably about 4-5 minutes. Sandy feet took longer to clean. What would you do differently?: Bring a water bottle to clean off feet before putting on bike shoes. Bike
Comments: This is a tough bike course. Glad I had done the course on my own a couple times. My main goal was to complete the course in under an hour, and not have to walk my bike up any hills. Check. What would you do differently?: I just need to train more on the bike to increase my leg strength and turnover. 12 mph is too slow, need to get faster. Need to work on getting in nutrition on the bike before the run. Transition 2
Comments: Again, I don't know my exact transition time, but less than the transition from the swim. What would you do differently?: Maybe elastic laces. Run
Comments: What can I say about the run? It was hot, really hot. The course is a loop around the park itself, no paths, all/most off-road, uneven, rocky. Did I mention it was hot? Seriously, the off-road was really difficult and the heat just added to the misery. I mostly fast-walked and managed a slow jog once the pavement started (like last 500 feet). What would you do differently?: I need to train my legs to run off the bike better. Nothing I can do about the off-road (except participate in races that don't have that!). Post race
Warm down: At first I was too exhausted to want to do much. I cooled off with the ice-cold towel, drank lots of water, and sat down. After I cooled down, I was HUNGRY! We all went to breakfast then I went home and slept. What limited your ability to perform faster: IT WAS HOT! Event comments: The Danskin Triathlon is said to be great for beginners. Well, yes and no. As far as support, volunteers, people cheering for you: Yes, Yes, Yes great for beginners. But the course itself at least in Austin is difficult especially for a beginner. That said, I am glad I participated and I will probably do it again next year. Last updated: 2011-06-17 12:00 AM

I packed the night before, so only had to get up, get dressed, load the car, and go. My stomach was too upset (nervous energy) to eat, but I did drink water on the way to the park. We got there at 5:30 am, got transition set up, got body marked, and used the porta-john (like 5 times, did I mention nervous tummy?).
