Run
Comments: I went out fast, maybe too fast and I started to fade on the way back. At one point my heart rate was 202bpm. I knew that was from being sick. My avg heart rate for the run was 195. What would you do differently?: Maybe hold back abit. Transition 1
Comments: I had a hard time getting my shoes clipped in. Bike
Comments: I was looking forward to this because I had high hopes of getting 37km/hr or higher for an average. That never happend and it was a struggle the whole way. The first half wasn't that bad but after the turn around I just started to die. I just couldn't get a good pace going and the rough roads didn't help at all. With 5k left my illness was kicking in big time and I couldn't even keep my head up to look forward to see where I was going. I just wanted to lay down on the side of the road. What would you do differently?: Not get sick. Transition 2
Comments: Almost crasshed into someone well getting off the bike. Traffic jam. Run
Comments: All I can say is wow. I did much better then I thought I would. Post race
Warm down: Drink as much as I could What limited your ability to perform faster: Being sick Event comments: I did good. Felt sick as a dog on the bike but made up for some of it on the final run and came out with a top 10. Last updated: 2011-06-18 12:00 AM

Two weeks before the race I hurt my right shin. Three days before the race I get sick. Add these to the fact that I have a bad left hip and I knew I was in for a heck of a race.
After watching some of the try a tri I started my warmup. I did some light running (4km total) and about 20 minutes of stretching my hip and legs. I wrapped my right shin and I knew(kinda) that 7k of running shouldn't effect my hip. What I couldn't control was the fact that I was still sick. The days leading up to the race I had feaver, sore throat and was just very tired. When Saturday moring rolled around the feaver was gone, my throat was a little better but I was still very tired and weak.
