Banana and some G2. Vanilla GU right before swim start.

Aired up bike tires. Put food and Infinit on bike. Dropped off Special Needs bags. Put my sunglasses in T1 Bag and Garmin in T2 bag. Turned on MyAthlete tracker and put it in T1 bag.

Put on spray on Sun Block. Sun Block with body glide for Chaffing with hood.

Got in water while Pro's were out on first lap. Got face and neck wet.
Swim
  • 1h 29m 4s
  • 4224 yards
  • 02m 07s / 100 yards
Comments:

Started right, but not all the way right. Behind first wave. Almost no contact. Rounded Bouy's a little wide. Can't see second bouy because looking into sun.

Ended up a little wide on the way back to shore.

Wore hood with ear plugs.
What would you do differently?:

Navigate a little better. Draft more.
Transition 1
  • 10m
Comments:

Couldn't run getting out of water. Tripped on beach. Tripped again on stake marking special needs bags and scraped leg.

Decided to sit down and carefully go over transition in the tent. Had Tyr tri suit on for swim. Put MyAthlete tracker in pocket. Put on Bike Jersey over top. Put Fig Newtons in Bike Jersey pocket. Put socks on and shoes. Chamois creme on. Put on sunblock. Stopped at restrooms.

Walked past bike mount line. Had a little trouble clipping in because of mud in cleats.

Went slow so I wouldn't make a mistake that would cost me later.
What would you do differently?:

Try to do everything a little faster and stay away from stakes marking T1 bags.
Bike
  • 6h 01m 17s
  • 112 miles
  • 18.60 mile/hr
Comments:

Pacing felt good. Some air in stomach from swim. Stomach cramps limited food and water intake.

Two bottles in Infinit on bike and two more from special needs. 3 Fig Bars.

1/2 bottle of water and 1/4 bottle of Perform.
What would you do differently?:

Start with with to get stomach to settle down.
Transition 2
  • 06m 9s
Comments:

Put fresh socks on. Had thicker ones on for the bike, because morning was chilly.

Used bathroom. Put on more sunblock. Took of heart rate strap from Powertap. Turned on Garmin.
What would you do differently?:

Missed area by clavicles with sunblock.
Run
  • 4h 50m 24s
  • 26.2 miles
  • 11m 05s  min/mile
Comments:

Walked Aid stations. Walked hill and other sections on second lap.

Limited initially by stomach cramps that would get worse every time I drank anything.
What would you do differently?:

Need to do more running so I don't walk
Post race
Warm down:

Waited for wife at finish.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Stomach cramps.

Event comments:

Volunteers and support are excellent. Very spectator friendly.

No stops for traffic like some other Ironman races have.

Weather was perfect.

Used MyAthlete for family to track. Highly recommended. Made it very easy for them to find us.
