  • Comments: I would like to do this race again. I heard that this IMCDA 2015 race was the hottest recorded in North America and third in the world. I did not look at the clock when I finished and did not know my time until the next day. Out of the 4 that I have done so far, this was the hardest to do. The course is not that hard but the heat made it almost too much for me to handle. I heard there were about 370 DNFs on the course.

  • Comments: This race is now in the top three of the hottest Ironmans in North America. Mike Reilly said out of the 140 races he's announced, this was the hottest he's ever done (yes, including Kona). There was almost a 25% DNF rate. 31% of participants ended up in the Medical Tent during or after the race. To say I became an Ironman at Coeur D'Alene in 2015 gives me bragging rights for life! Ha! I am truly humbled and grateful that I survived and triumphed on a day like Sunday, June 28!

  • Comments: What a great race experience. Nothing beats hearing those infamous words for the first time...."Jeff Whitman of Longview, YOU ARE AN IRONMAN!!!" I'm so happy with my performance. All glory to God who strengthens me!!

  • Comments: I loved this venue and like to mix up races of this distance and see new places. But, I am really thinking I want to go back here. I believe I can go sub 11 at CDA with some knowledge of the course and proper training geared towards some specifics I have in mind. The expo to me was a little dissapointment. I'm not into too much, but the vendors at other IM's that carry all race essentials have been great (I believe Inside out Sports). They carry tons of different brands and race essentials that I ddin't watn to fly with. The vendor in CDA was not very good. Little point, but had to make some adjustments with some things.

  • Comments: This is a fun race. Be cautioned that the weather conditions can change quickly and it might not be a perfect day. Just go with it and accept it as part of the challenge. The course is great, probably one of the best bike road conditions of any that I have ever race. Beautiful venue and the local people fully support having Ironman come town. Put this race on your must do list!

  • Comments: This is my one and only race at the distance. I'm a mid-forties professional with a family, and while I had a lovely raceday experience, I can't justify putting my family through another training cycle like this. Nor do I think I could improve on my enjoyment of the day. So I'm one and done. I'd toyed with the idea of an Ironman for about the last decade. I'm so happy I finally took the plunge. This was a first-class event at the best venue I could imagine, and I couldn't have had a better experience -- the conditions notwithstanding. I'll enjoy being an Ironman, and all that it entails -- mostly bragging rights. :-)

  • Comments: The course is beautiful, I'm a bit biased because I live in the area but it really is. As usual, everything superbly organized and the volunteers are the best I've ever been around. The whole town comes together for the race and the crowds were awesome all day long. The parties on the run course were really fun. I had a great time, this should be a must do race for anyone doing an Ironman, awesome volunteers, really awesome volunteers! I had thought this would be my last Ironman and maybe it will be but if I ever do another, it'll be right here in Coeur d Alene.

  • Comments: Couer d'Alene is a wonderful town. It feels like the entire town comes out to support this race. Ironman puts on a great race. I highly recommend it to anyone considering signing up. Just be ready for the hills, the cool (and sometimes rough) lake swim, the wind and the incredible volunteers and crowds.

  • Comments: I only have IMTX 2014 to compare to... the volunteers at CdA were amazing and much better than IMTX, although the spectators at IMTX were louder and more supportive. I really enjoyed this race, I was very nervous about making the bike cut-off but it was never really in jeopardy after a surprisingly strong swim. The wind sucked hard and ruined many people's day. I would recommend this race to anyone that enjoys a healthy challenge.

  • Comments: Ironman CDA has a reputation in town of being one of the most iconic ,scenic and spectator friendly courses around the country. I'll tell ya, for a local, this course did not disappoint! Mike Reilly said during the welcome ceremony that taking your time down the finishing chute is the most important thing you could do. He stressed that the "young bucks" sprint the finish and he never understood that. As I made my turn down Sherman Ave., I looked back behind me and I was the only one around. I ran side to side and gave as many high fives as I could. I listened as Mike Reilly said "From Coeur d' Alene, Idaho, a local Police Officer Andy Nye, YOU ARE AN IRONMAN!" I have dreamed of this for so long and I achieved my goal for the year. My final time may have been 27 minutes too slow but I have the most fun I could have ever had. Thank you to all the athletes and volunteers who made my dream come true!

  • Comments: Coeur d'Alene is a great place to have an Ironman and the people in town are incredibly supportive. In the days leading up to the race, almost everyone asked if I was participating and when they heard yes offered encouraging words and wished me luck. I actually saw a few of them cheering athletes on on race day. Great energy in the town. Course seemed just about right to me. Would I have liked no hills for bike and run? Yes, but then it wouldn't have been as challenging. Race volunteers did an awesome job. Always helpful and encouraging. Only part I didn't think was quite up to snuff was the food. The pre-race meal was simple pasta and bread without too many choices. The post-race athlete area really only had fruit and pizza. Need more variety and choices of food. Beer would be great as a post-race beverage choice.

  • Comments: CdA is one of the best Ironman venues. The locals really embrace the race and are amazing volunteers. It wasn't quite the race I had hoped for, but you can only work with the hand you're dealt and adapt accordingly. Overall, I know I have the ability to have a better performance at an Ironman. I've been working a lot on the mental aspect and was happy to see it pay off at certain times on race day. No matter how many years I do triathlons or how many Ironman races I've done, I always walk away learning something.

  • Comments: This race is amazing. The whole town comes out to support it and they make it so much fun. The scenery and weather could not have been better. The volunteers are absolutely incredible. They make this race possible. I wasn't sure about all the loops and out and backs for the course, but it made it fun to be able to see my family more and made for a lot of spectators and motivation on the course. WTC did a great job with the whole week of events. I wish it was less expensive, but it was worth such a great experience and such an amazing day.

  • Comments: What can I say? CDA is amazing. I could not have picked a better place to do my first Ironman. I don't know what I can do for a second one. The volunteers were awsome, the scenery is insane, and the overall vibe from the city is nothing short of wonderful. If I could move out west this would be a great place to live. To all my fellow BTr's especially the local ones. Thanks. Man I loved this race and meeting everyone. I wanted a great experience and this was one I will never forget. My race: My goal was to learn and do it under 15 hours. I finished in 13:50 and I know there are a ton of minutes to get maybe even an hour or more. I plan on doing another one. I just have to wait till the wife approves it and the check book can recover. Thanks everyone who reads this. If you are on the bubble about this race don't be it is spectacular. Sorry for any spelling or grammer issues.

  • Comments: This is one of the great ones. I'll start with the few cons: - PITA to get there - Aid stations on the run were sometimes stocked with different things - Few sections on the bike were tight as you got onto 95 - Marginal post-race food All very minor. Pros: - Amazing course (one of the best runs there is) - Beautiful town - Nice transition area in park - Everything all together - Volunteers and Spectators are perfect - Amazing finish line - Good transition setup and security

  • Comments: You cannot beat this race. My attraction to IM, specifically CDA, is the town and the people. The support is unbelievable and the energy in the air unlike anything else I have experienced. The venue is breathtaking, challenging and worth the effort. Thanks to all the volunteers and staff who made the race possible and congrats to all my fellow athletes who endured the day!

  • Comments: So between slow transitions, probably a little slower tire set-up, maybe not pushing the downhills in favor of emptying the bladder, and just not quite pushing as hard as I could've on the run, I think the 10:10:10 was reachable. But monday morning quarterbacking is always easy to pick apart any performance. Kona will have to wait.

  • Comments: This is an excellent race for people of average and above ability. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it as a first as the hills can be VERY tough. The people of Coeur d'Alene are amazing and so supportive of the race.

  • Comments: First I should comment on just how COOL the people of CDA are. Starting from when I arrived in town people working at restaurants, grocery stores etc all wished me good luck. The race support though was most awesome. Loved the bands (bag pipes, rock and even a girl practicing her violin) through out the course was cool LOVED the neighborhood parties going on before you get to the lake path on the run. Those neighbors rocked - huge help in motivation, Next the race organizers themselves did an incredible job. Never needed to ask for anything, everything was clear and well explained. The course itself was awesome. Cold lake, hilly bike, and rainy runs along the water. Except for the temp it was PNW racing at it's best. I will so be back again Finally, while I was way off goal and training paces - I won't complain too much. I finished. You don't quite realize just how hard an IM can be until you're out there and see people suffering. Plenty of folks had bad swims/bikes/runs etc,

  • Comments: When I signed up for this race, I wanted a sub-12, but with the crappy training due to bad weather and the many stresses and obstacles leading up to it, I began to dread the race. When I got on the bike in the race, I decided firmly that I was going to just have a good time; that having fun would be more important...and I did. I managed to get a 41-second personal best, and I'm fine with that.
