Swim
Comments: water temp was just unbearable. Good swim for me, considering. I think I took it out a little too hard because I blew up on the run. What would you do differently?: slow the pace a bit. Transition 1
Comments: I was really winded after the swim and looooong run to transition. Up several flights of stairs and jogging about a block. Bike
Comments: Probably a bit too fast for my fitness level Transition 2
Run
Comments: I imploded on this run. Made it almost 2 miles with quads cramping up, had to start walk/run at that point. Walked more than I would have liked. Finished last 1/2 mile strong. What would you do differently?: Start slower pace on the run, and save more for the run. I also need to not do olympic triathlons in 90+ degree weather. Post race
Warm down: Sat in a chair under a tent and tried to cool off. What limited your ability to perform faster: Heat, fast pace at beginning. Event comments: The weather is too hot for this race, and this is the second year in a row they have had heat issues in this race. This was my first olympic distance tri. It was a good learning experience, although the weather issues make it hard to judge how much of my run disaster was due to fitness/pacing and how much was heat-related. Glad I did it, but I would not do this race as a tri next year. Maybe aquabike or relay. Last updated: 2011-06-27 12:00 AM
