  • Comments: On the race itself, I am a bit disappointed in comparing it to last year. Having only one ladder to exit the swim which was the same as last year, the floating dock was not as high and you could pull yourself out. The run course is hell and climbing those stairs sucks but this is not a sport for the wimpy, LOL! The after-party had a lot to be desired especially compared to last year, one egg burrito and one beer was a bit lame but it was nice to have chairs and to be inside for the award ceremony.

  • Comments: the band afterward was cool. The distance to T1 was a pain but the small footprint of the transition area is a big bonus. I set a PR by 3:25 and am very happy with that outcome. Though I knew the run wasn't going to be the best, I am surprised that the bike split wasn't faster. The day after the race I signed up for Ironman Lake Placid for 2012. So I guess I won't do Rockett's Landing in '12.

  • Comments: The race support regarding the was top notch. Cold towels, cold drinks and the like were well appreciated. The stairs and narrow trail sections are unfortunate as they present a clear danger and huge risk of injury. This is the primary reason, not the heat, that would deter me from doing this race again. I would have like to hear some pre-race announcements and corral organization at the start as there was a huge mob of people at the start dock, which made it difficult to know what was going on. Other than that, the race was well organized and enjoyable for a late July race.

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: The weather is too hot for this race, and this is the second year in a row they have had heat issues in this race. This was my first olympic distance tri. It was a good learning experience, although the weather issues make it hard to judge how much of my run disaster was due to fitness/pacing and how much was heat-related. Glad I did it, but I would not do this race as a tri next year. Maybe aquabike or relay.

  • Comments: Post race PF Changs, YUMMY. More water, powerade....Wine!! The run course sould be rearranged to not be so filled with stairs and such. It isn't that far from the half mary or full mary course so using part of that would work.

  • Comments: They did a good job of dealing with the weather and lots of changing plans. Still a lot of volunteers on the bike course, so that was nice. I heard a lot of people complaining about the name + chip combinations being wrong in the results that were posted on the race site.

  • Comments: Weather was the limiting factor in this race. If the weather was better, the activities would have been more fun. The event was well organized and every turn on the bike and run had excellent staff and instructions on where to go. Plenty of aid stations on the run.
