Swim
Comments: Results say #1 swim but not true. I was second, maybe third. This was a great execution by my part. Maybe a little to much backstroke but when my backstroke is just as good as others free...why not : ) What would you do differently?: Absolutely nothing. Started easy, kept it long and smooth. Drafted off anyone and everyone for the first 500-700 (those who start out to fast) Picked off 6-8 guys on the second half of the swim and started to close on leader after rounding last bouy. One thought...maybe could have pushed the swim a bit earlier to get on his feet at the bouy instead of waiting til we got into the choppier part of the lake.... Transition 1
Comments: Left foot strap came undone and had to mess with it for forever. Thought about riding whole ride without strapped left foot but finally got strap taken care of. Flying mount is driving me crazy...but I did watch Andy Potts (on tv) do his and saw something to try... :45 seconds slower than leader of the pack "Art" What would you do differently?: Dropped swim cap or goggles (don't remember which) in sand, doubled back for it costing a few seconds. DON'T DROP STUFF. DO A BETTER FLYING MOUNT : ) Bike
Comments: Good job Jeff, you got me by :13 on the bike. To bad "Art" got us all by 5 minutes !!!! WOW !!!! What would you do differently?: Not sure. Need to figure out stomach issue. Very tight. To much lake water? Should I stop drinking it while swimming...but I like the taste. : ) Took a GU early on the bike. Mixed mostly water with a little of gatorade in aero bottle. Had a bottle of gatorade in cage and drank a little. Stopped drinking with about 7-9 minutes left before run Transition 2
Comments: 3rd fastest...even took my time to spray cold water over my head Much better T2 and than T1 What would you do differently?: Nothing, this was a good one. Run
Comments: Not bad, look at Training log for comments on run What would you do differently?: More long runs prior (and maby not an 80 miler on Friday before) : ) Post race
Warm down: Yeah right... What limited your ability to perform faster: not enough long runs Event comments: This was a good year for KLM I thought. People at every turn and turn around with signs to assist those who are uncertain (racers resposibilities still). People at every mile with water and gatorade for run...lots of food/beverages at finish line. Still no awards ceremony....but to hot to stick around for that stuff anyway....hit it and quit it. Great job Bill (and team)!!!! Last updated: 2011-07-07 12:00 AM

Wake before alarm, as usual. Water, banana and bagel in the car. 16oz of low cal gatorade and some more water. (oh yeah, 80mile ride on Friday before)
Jogged only a little knowing that my swim would be my true warm up. Took the bike for a quick spin out across the dam and back. Swam nice and easy out to the lifeguards, said good morning and a joke that I can't remember now....
