Swim
Comments: My swim was about 3 minutes faster than my goal which is really good since I had to pause for "traffic jams" and go around people with "swim buddies". Might have swam a bit wide after the last bouy. What would you do differently?: Work more on sighting, may start closer to the front, Transition 1
Comments: Not sure what took so long other than going around bike walker traffic and a long run to the bike start. Felt like clothing changes went smoothly. What would you do differently?: Practice bike shoes w/o socks so that I can compete sans socks. Bike
Comments: Froze my water bottle the night before and it wasn't really thawed for bike so my water consumption was less than I would have liked. Need to be more bold on corners but part of my hesitation was caused by nearby riders. Finished slightly under goal time. What would you do differently?: Corner faster, freese the water bottle differently. Transition 2
Comments: Again, no real hang-ups so not sure of delay other than long distances to/from exit/entrance and getting around transition traffic. What would you do differently?: Practice transitions more. Run
Comments: Felt pretty good. Got rid of "brick legs" while running bike to transition so that wasn't much of a problem. Lots of water stations and a couple of mist stations so that helped with cooling. What would you do differently?: Wish I'd pushed just a tad harder to beat a couple more people in my AG. Post race
Warm down: Walked around a bit and felt a slight hyperventalation. Sat down for a bit then went to look for something to eat. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training for the swim/bike, heat for the run. Event comments: This is my first tri but I've done many races and this one is very well organized from the expo to the awards. The course is beautiful although the lake is a bit "green". Set up transition, talked with other participants, walked to swim/bike/run entrances/exits. Watched the elites start then put on my wetsuit, ate a cliff bar and walked to swim start.
The walk to the transition area was a hike so that got the blood going. Did some static stretches.
