Swim
Comments: The swim time includes the run up to the transition area - probably about 45 seconds. It was the best swim I've had at Shermanator but still not great compared to my training pace. The longer warmup definitely helped. Transition 1
Comments: Transition was fairly fast. Not bringing the Garmin was quite a bit easier and, particularly for short course, I don't need it. I also started without trying to fully clip in either foot which worked out well. Bike
Comments: It was my best Shermanator bike leg. The hills were a bit rough - I definitely need to spend more time doing hill work. Overall, I was very happy with it given the relatively limited time I've spent on the bike this summer. Transition 2
Comments: Transition was slightly slower than last year, partly due to running around to both sides of the rack. What would you do differently?: Make sure I have a good plan for how I'm coming in, which side I'm going to, etc. Run
Comments: It was a rough run, much slower than last year. Given the recent knee problems and the minimal run training I've been able to do, I was satisfied. What would you do differently?: Stay injury free next year and arrive with better running fitness. Post race
Warm down: Walked around and stretched a little bit. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of run fitness was really the biggest problem. I could train to do better on the swim and bike but the run is really the limiter. Event comments: Shermanator is a good race. It's well organized, there are plenty of aid stations, and it's an interesting location. Last updated: 2011-07-21 12:00 AM

Work up a couple hours before the race and had coffee and toast with peanut butter and honey. The whole wheat toast might have been a bit much, particularly after a bigger dinner the night before.
Got in the water and swam around 300 yards. Jogged back to the transition area.
