Swim
Comments: I was not expecting the slimy feeling when entering the water. The first stretch to the turn buoy was interesting. Worked on trying to find a ryhthm. Once I made the turn I had no one around me for 15 feet on either side. Allowed me to get into a nice ryhthm. What would you do differently?: Continue to work on sighting. Transition 1
Comments: Long run uphill from swim exit to transition. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: Once the bike portion started the rain began to fall. It was heavy for most of the remainder of the race. At mile 4 on the steepest downhill section the bike began to shake violently at 38 mph. I assume I was hydroplaning at that point. I thought I was going down but fortunately I was able to hang on. After that, I was hesitant from pushing it on the rest of the route. Still pleased with the average considering the conditions. What would you do differently?: Hard to say with the heavy rain that I would change anything. Transition 2
Comments: Good T2 for me. I got a good laugh when looking down at my running shoes and seeing puddles of water in them. They probably weighed 3 pounds each. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: The trail run turned into a mud run with the rain. Made for some slippery traction. Most of the route was a single lane on the trail. ABout halfway through the run we passed some campsites and someone was cooking bacon. That sure did smell pretty good at that point. What would you do differently?: Try to continue to push the pace. Post race
Warm down: A little stretching. What limited your ability to perform faster: Weather Event comments: This was a great race given the conditions. It actually made it fun dealing with the heavy rain. Last updated: 2011-07-27 12:00 AM

No warmup, just stretching.
