Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4:45. Drank one cup of coffee and ate engliish muffin with peanut butter and some yogurt. Drank Red Bull and a gatorade. got to race site and was first bike on my rack. Got marked, picked up timing chip and laid out transition.
Event warmup:

Stretched and ran about 3/4 mile.
Swim
  • 08m 55s
  • 400 yards
  • 02m 14s / 100 yards
Comments:

Was really dreading this. Didn't feel at all confident on my ability. But was able to finish without too much difficulty. Stood up too soon.
What would you do differently?:

Swim closer in to shore before standing up.
Transition 1
  • 02m 36s
Comments:

Much better then last race! I didn't wear a jersey, so I was able to cut a lot of time off there. Spent too much time putting on socks and actually ripped them.
What would you do differently?:

Train to ride and run without socks
Bike
  • 42m 40s
  • 12.5 miles
  • 17.58 mile/hr
Comments:

Felt strong throughout. But maybe I used up too much energy prior to the run. Kept racing back and forth with #314.
Transition 2
  • 01m 45s
Comments:

T2 results not posted, but included in bike time. Tried to extapolate the time based off of my own cyclometer. OK, I was smoked and used T2 for a breather. Was probably the closest bike to rack. No problems getting out of there though.
What would you do differently?:

Improve my endurance so that I get moving on the run quicker
Run
  • 27m 50s
  • 3 miles
  • 09m 17s  min/mile
Comments:

I train to run at 8 minute/miles and can run 10 milers at this pace. But seem to always be smoked by the run. Need to really improve my endurance.
What would you do differently?:

Give it my all. Who cares if I puke after crossing the line. Need to expend every last ounce of energy in completing.
Post race
Warm down:

Re-hydration. And light stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My level of endurance.

Event comments:

This was my real test. I am very happy with my ability to make it happen. Really driven to succeed.

Course was actually 12.5 miles long. I was hammering it along the way. Having done most of my training on this course gave me an advantage. During my training, I was happy to break the 17 mph average. But during the race I maintained an 18 mph average.
