Swim
Comments: Started at the front of the wave running in. Once I got in I couldn't catch my breath after a couple strokes. The first 200 meters was hard. I had a difficult time catching my breath. I ended up trying to stop and touch but couldn't so I flipped onto my back which really didn't help me. At this point I was thinking maybe duathlons might be a better choice for me. Once I reached the first bouy I was able to get into a rhythm. I swam as far as I could in towards shore, once my hand hit the ground I got up and ran in. I felt pretty good coming out of the water. What would you do differently?: Walk slower into the water and start off slower. Maybe even start at the back of the pack instead. Transition 1
Comments: Transition was good. I had no water bottle going onto my bike so I was a little nervous. A nice triathlete next to me gave me a piece of her gum to chew which made me feel better knowing my mouth wouldn't feel dry. What would you do differently?: Step on my wetsuit to get it off Bike
Comments: The bike went well. I felt really good on the bike. Did not feel too thirsty. What would you do differently?: Take water from a spectator who was handing them out at the end of his driveway. Transition 2
What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: Came off the bike only having to remove my helmet. Should have removed it while running. Legs felt a little shaky at first but it didn't take long to get them back. My right hip started to feel tight but it quickly went away. Since I hadn't had anything to drink I was looking forward to getting to a water station at mile 1. Loved running passed the crowd and women coming back in from their run. Loved seeing my family and friends at the finish! What would you do differently?: Push myself a little harder on the last mile. Post race
Warm down: None Event comments: Overall I would have to say I had a great race. I definitely could have swam better. Will definitely be doing it again! The women were awesome, the volunteers were great, and my family and friends who supported me were even better! Last updated: 2011-08-07 12:00 AM

I packed every thing the night before. I got up at 5:00 AM. Jumped in the shower really just to wet my hair so it could be braided. Dressed and went down to start the coffee and have breakfast. I ate 3/4 of a plain bagel with peanut butter and a cup of coffee. My friend came over to braid my hair. So nice of her to wake up at 5! Then my friend who was doing the race with me picked me up at 5:30. I left without my bike water bottle.
Didn't warm up at all. Just stood around waiting nervously for half an hour.
