Swim
Comments: Good swim, lots of hydrilla, there is a point that comes out into the course that I got a little close to and was concerned about "running aground" Start was in so much muck, when I tried to jump forward at the start, my body stayed in position and my feet just went down into the mud. Nasty. Settled in behind someone, but he would completely stop his stroke to sight, then I would pretty much run into him, but when he was swimming, he was faster. Constant pulling away and catching up and it threw off my rhythm and for some reason couldn't change my line to adjust. What would you do differently?: Nothing, pleased with this effort. Transition 1
Comments: This went very well. Actually practiced this and felt very confident and organized. What would you do differently?: Skip the nutrition on this short of a race, didn't eat anything anywhere on course, but spent time putting the blocs into my pocket. Bike
Comments: Nice ride, did it the weekend prior, but the course was slightly different from stated course (better, course on website had a NASTY climb). Good pace, passed some people, got passed by some people. What would you do differently?: Need to ride more to get faster, but overall didn't expect to be as fast as I was for this race (never done a solo ride with 20+ avg before this). Transition 2
Comments: First time using yankz laces. Must say, I'm a fan for life now. Even though I had to dump the water out of my shoes, they went on quickly. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: Took a while to get my heart rate where I wanted it and get comfortable with my pace. Saw another clyde in front, but decided I didn't have it in me to go catch him, then a little later, saw him having shoe issues and passed him. Unfortunately, didn't take too long for him to pass me back and that was all she wrote (If I'd have known it was for 1st, I might have dug a little deeper and tried, oh well). What would you do differently?: I need a pair of trail shoes. I was afraid to run in the flat areas of the trails because they were so muddy and slick. Post race
Warm down: Have some water and wait for my wife to finish. Enjoy the nice cold rain shower and relax. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training and the wet rain, everything else was at or above my current expectations. Event comments: Good job by the FS staff. Nice venue, and the price is just right. Last updated: 2011-08-08 12:00 AM

Woke up, snagged a couple of power bars and a Gatorade and drove to the site.
After setting everything up, got on the bike and rode up to 49 and back. Also did a little swim, since I have not been able to do an OWS since my previous race fail, wanted to make sure I got myself calmed and ready before the start.
