Swim
Comments: I was nervouse about the running beach start but I placed myself on the outside and it worked out well. I tried to find some to draft but did not have any luck. I kept my pace a little faster than normal and paid a price (hamstring cramp on first mile of the bike). What would you do differently?: I need to still work on running after the swim. The 300 yard run stiffened up my leg muscles. Transition 1
Comments: The bikes were tightly together on the racks and I could not get it off easily. I forgot to reset my computer (again) and I did not have my bike in the proper gear. Because my legs were tight I did not jump on my bike. What would you do differently?: I'm not sure at this point. Bike
Comments: I got a hamstring cramp within the first 500 feet and I had to stop and stretch. It all worked out well in the end. The key was that I remained calm. The main goal was to keep my avg speed down a bit and save some legs for the run. I was able to accomplish that. I used my smaller chainring a lot which proved benefficial in saving the legs. What would you do differently?: I need to stay in the aero position for longer amounts of time. Transition 2
Comments: Couldn't do the dimount because there was a turn right before the dismount. I didn't practice that so I didn't try it. I had a hard time racking the bike. What would you do differently?: Nothing at this point Run
Comments: This was the strongest run that I have ever had. The training worked!!! I was prod of the run and felt competitive to the end. I was able to pass people and I even had short speed bursts after passing them to keep them from passing me back. I never had a finish harder than that one. Great Run Today!! What would you do differently?: Nothing! Post race
Warm down: Light Stretching and used a G-series drink from gatorade. What limited your ability to perform faster: My aerobic threshold levels on the bike needs to come up. I need to get them up in the swim as well. Event comments: I did use positive mental messaging throughout the entire run, not just the last mile and it worked out well. I was proud of my ability to make my competition suffer a bit as they tried to stay with me on the run. I am excited about my time and am looking forward to getting into the 2:30's Last updated: 2011-08-14 12:00 AM

Got to the race with an hour to spare but parking was tough and that made me late and nervous. I kept cool and remained calm and set up my transition area. I forgot to put bodyglide in my shoes and I did notice a difference.
Light stretching on the beach.
