Swim
Comments: I just took it slow and steady; did not want to panic. I was there to do the best of my ability, knowing I would not be the first out of the water. I actually stayed on the inside of the course and suprisingly not kicked too badly. I think most of the women went farther on the left side of the course. What would you do differently?: Nothing. I am very happy with my results as I am still a beginner. I remained calm and I did not have to stop to rest. I did switch to backstroke 2x but only for about 30-60 seconds. Transition 1
Comments: I only have cage peddles so I did not have to worry about clipless shoes. The run from the swim to the bike seemed very long. Was able to run the entire time. What would you do differently?: Not sure; I felt I gave it 100%. Glad I brought a bucket to sit on to put on my sneakers. Bike
Comments: Went all out on the bike. The bike is my strongest disciplin so I gave it all I could. It had started to rain at one point, but I did not panic. I passed at least 40 women. The only women that passed me had tri-bikes. What would you do differently?: Nothing; very happy with my time. Beat my pr from practice. Transition 2
Comments: I was super fast getting off the bike and out of my helmet. I did have to ask someone which way we ran out. She was kind of a snot about it, but whatever. What would you do differently?: Figure out where you run out of transition. I was so nervous before the race that I forgot to check it out. Run
Comments: Fairly happy with the run. I am not a runner, so I was expecting to come in around 40 minutes. Considering my best 5K time was 36 minutes, I was very pleased with running the course in 37 minutes. If it weren't for the amazing crowd I would have probably walked a bit more What would you do differently?: Run faster! Post race
Warm down: I was on cloud 9. Accepted my meddle and a sports drink. Found my family and got teary eyed. This race was a huge accomplishment for me and I was very proud. What limited your ability to perform faster: I am not sure; I feel like I gave it my all and then some. Next year I plan to come back leaner and stronger. Event comments: Loved it! I am smiling in almost every single picture that was taken. Can't wait to do it again next year. Last updated: 2011-08-14 12:00 AM

This was my first big triathlon. I had participated with two "Y Not Tri" so at least I knew what to expect.
Splashed around in the water; nothing more
