Total Time = 1h 47m 29s
Overall Rank = 736/2036
Age Group = Athena
Age Group Rank = 12/51
Pre-race routine:

Up at 5:30. Ate some oatmeal (seemed like the thing to do). Drove down and took the shuttle.
Event warmup:

Put my feet in the water to get used to the temp. Not too bad
Swim
  • 16m 16s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 10s / 100 meters
Comments:

This was my first open water swim. It went really well all things considered.
What would you do differently?:

*shrug* Not much. I was fine without the wetsuit as soon as I got started swimming.
Transition 1
  • 05m 51s
Comments:

Let me start off by saying that my trans area was the furthest away from all the starts. I had calf cramps getting out of the water. I also took my time getting my shoes on (making sure me feet were dry, etc)
What would you do differently?:

I should have had a banana this morning with breakfast. I don't usually have a problem with cramping, but definitely had problems today.
Bike
  • 44m 32s
  • 12 miles
  • 16.17 mile/hr
Comments:

One particularly short steep hill with people walking. The course was pretty narrow right there and I had to hop off and walk as to not run into them.

What would you do differently?:

I definitely need to invest in some clipless pedals. I also need to practice hills some more.

If I keep with this over the next few years, I'm also going to get a better bike. My bike is meant for short commuting. I would want different handle bars for a longer race.
Transition 2
  • 03m 44s
Comments:

I dinged my knee getting off the bike. Very wobbly. I walked in the Trans area and sat down to change my shoes
What would you do differently?:

Try to be more careful getting off my bike.
Run
  • 37m 3s
  • 3.2 miles
  • 11m 35s  min/mile
Comments:

Easily my worst of the three, but I knew that before I even started. Because of my knee and my calves I ended up walking more than I would have liked. Actually, I was a bit surprised that I ended up running as much as I did.
What would you do differently?:

I need to practice this more. It's hard because I find swimming and biking so much more enjoyable.
Post race
Warm down:

Just walked around and got the free bagels and bananas.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not enough time actually running. My running workouts were often more walk than run.

Event comments:

Very friendly and Girl-Power!
