Pre-race routine:

Had 1/2 a muffin and coffee during drive downtown. Paid $20 for parking for the lot across the ferry. Long lineup for registration and getting on ferry. But I made sure I had lots of time.

Comments:

Choppy. Water was cold too. Took in a lot of water. Stopped many times. It seemed that I kept swimming and swimming and I wasn't getting closer to the buoys. Lifeguard asked many times if I was ok. I didn't know what to say. I didn't feel ok but didn't want to be taken back on the boat.

Time includes looong run (200m?) up beach through walkway to T1. Worst swim ever. Swim was 5' slower than last yr.
What would you do differently?:

Learn to swim in choppy waters.

Totally spent by the time I got out of the water. Bad swim was followed by an even worse T1 - 4', pretty much the slowest in the entire field. Hands were frozen. Couldn't get wetsuit off.

2' slower this yr on new Trek Speed Concept. Swim took a lot out of me.

2nd AG is not much consolation. Can't get HR up. Avg HR is ~10 beats slower than my racing HR.

Slow but felt good, best part is plantar did not complain until after the run. Can't get HR up, swim took too much out of me.

About 10' slower than last yr on new Trek. Poor performance mostly due to horrific swim, and took a lot out of me.
