Comments:

Overall, I was very impressed with how I did and felt after. I felt like I could have done 4 more miles, which was why I was doing the race in general: as a final run through for my race plan for the KC Half. I was trying to ave. an 8:00/mi pace. At 6 miles, I decided to kick it up since I felt great. My right foot has been giving me troubles, and I started feeling it around mile 4. It didn't affect my race, but just something to think about.
What would you do differently?:

I am not planning on quickening my pace for the half, but now know I can handle the 8:00/mi pace. This race gave me a lot of confidence, and I needed it. I may have started out a little faster, but in the end I was able to kick hard and have a great finish.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, looked for food, stood in line for the results, and stretched for a bit. Met Reece and his family.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My foot. I didn't want to aggravate whatever I have going on any more than it currently is...

Event comments:

This was the first year for the race, and it showed. Packet pickup was somewhat unorganized, and there were no "goodies" with the packets, which kinda sucked. The volunteers for the race were amazing, and very helpful along the course. I was disappointed in the finish, as yes, we did finish inside of the stadium, but we weren't on the field, and I couldn't see the jumbotrons from where we finished. And worst of all, they ran out of food. So for a 15k race, the only recovery option was water. I don't know if the 5k-ers completely went overboard with the post race food options, but I was pretty disappointed in the fact that I had to drive to Sonic just to eat something. The race results printed off at the site was great, and i hope they keep doing it. Overall, it was a great day weather-wise for the race, which I did enjoy. I would recommend it to anyone as a tuenup race for the KC Half or Full marathons in October.
