  • Comments: First year race, but I love the Ultramax crew and their races. However, I sometimes get the feeling that they are either just a tad short on personnel, or in some way they barely miss getting everything off and running without a hitch. Some of the issues are ancillary details but the race itself was great. There were some general logistical items that I would've changed from my standpoint, but I imagine that if this race returns many of these kinks will be worked out.

  • Comments: First year for this and you could tell. The volunteers were great(especially Reece's kids), but there was hardly anything to eat or drink at the finish except for a bottle of water. They ran out of bagels and oranges(probably the 5k folks) I will probably do this again next year, as this distance is unique and it is only about 5 minutes from my house.

  • Comments: Overall I think the race was O.K. But I only paid $36, after $5 FB discount. Got a pretty nice tech. T-shirt and engraved beer glass. My two kids got free game passes to Sporting KC soccer games for volunteering, can't complain too much. I think they ran out of food, although when I was over there there was bagels, cookies and oranges, I don't remember seeing anything else. I wish they would have chocolate milk and/or yogurt after races of this distance, I like a little protein after this amount of exertion. I didn't stay for awards so I don't know how that went. I think they went 4 deep in the AG awards. Photo taken by joncolbybohnsack, thanks Jon!

  • Comments: This was the first year for the race, and it showed. Packet pickup was somewhat unorganized, and there were no "goodies" with the packets, which kinda sucked. The volunteers for the race were amazing, and very helpful along the course. I was disappointed in the finish, as yes, we did finish inside of the stadium, but we weren't on the field, and I couldn't see the jumbotrons from where we finished. And worst of all, they ran out of food. So for a 15k race, the only recovery option was water. I don't know if the 5k-ers completely went overboard with the post race food options, but I was pretty disappointed in the fact that I had to drive to Sonic just to eat something. The race results printed off at the site was great, and i hope they keep doing it. Overall, it was a great day weather-wise for the race, which I did enjoy. I would recommend it to anyone as a tuenup race for the KC Half or Full marathons in October.
