Swim
Comments: Wow...what a swim for my first Tri. I guess you could call it swimming....It was more like flailing aimlessly. I was freaked out over the big waves (thought this was the gulf!). Was suprised I was freaked out because I feel confident in the water. What would you do differently?: Uh, just swim. Transition 1
Comments: I was so out of breath from the "swim" and run up the beach. Walked thru transition and took my time. I didn't time myself for the transitions but it was about 6 minutes (maybe 5 & change...maybe 6 & change). Since this was my first I was trying to just stay calm. Sat on my towel, rinsed feet, had a gel and some water, got on socks/shoes/helmet/glasses and jogged out of transition with bike. What would you do differently?: Faster! Bike
Comments: Did better on the bike than I thought. The bridge turned out to be easy. I'm still not sure what the mileage was? I thought it ended up being 18 but my bike computer didn't work so not sure. I kept a really steady cadence so that was a plus. What would you do differently?: Complete my tri bike so I can go faster. My heavy, old Trek 1000 isn't going to cut it anymore. Transition 2
Comments: Again, transitions killed me. I was a little disoriented during these and didn't want to forget anything so just took my time. Had another gel. What would you do differently?: Faster! Run
Comments: I had to take a few walk breaks unfortunately. My legs felt heavy. Did good out of transition though (maybe I went to fast out of T2). What would you do differently?: No walk breaks. Post race
Event comments: This was my first Tri so I don't know how to compare it. My goal was to keep it under 2 hours and I acheived that. It was harder than I thought but a blast! Can't wait for my next one. Last updated: 2006-04-24 12:00 AM
