Swim
Comments: I have to say easily my safest swim, did not get kicked or hit in the face though some guy did try his best to use me as a boogie board once! As for the actual race i started out strong, didn't quite sprint but went fast, arms felt nice and sharp. When i reached the first buoy i really started getting in my rhythm. I drifted a little bit but i managed to stay in a small group and get a decent draft. Arms felt solid and the pace was tough but i kept it up. Being a small race i liked not being hit too much. The waves were small so i wasn't able to make the sure. Coming to the last stretch i really kicked it in hard, unfortunately my clocked time was a good 20s off since the mat was all the way at T1 >.< What would you do differently?: nothing Transition 1
Comments: 32.109 Went through fast, wetsuit came off good. Just wish the swim mat was on the beach and not at the beginning of T1. What would you do differently?: nothing Bike
Comments: Loved the course, absolutely gorgeous and hilly! Started off at a decent pace, not too hard since the first climb comes right away. Knowing it was long and got steep at the end i just spun up and had to get out of the saddle at the last portion of it. The rest of the way i took it at a decent pace, spinning up all the hills solidly but not as fast as i can. Took the descents good but the curvy ones cautiously, there were many and it was my first time on the course. I really loved the speeds i got going downhill, it was fun! The last downhill before the end of the loop really got my legs nice and rested because i could only spin thanks to my awesome speed. The second loop was largely the same though i was lapping a good amount of people and it wasn't nearly as lonely! I took it harder knowing that i need to give it my all, i was saving to bike this loop hard. Overall it went the same but harder than the first loop. I was confident going into T2 with such a strong 2nd lap. What would you do differently?: nothing, well get faster next year! Transition 2
Comments: 33.957 Went in and out fast What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: Boom! I was shot out of a canon getting out. I was just imagining myself as an ITU racer with this run. I head out at a hard and sustainable pace. The weather was perfect, course fun, good day for running. I passed a lot of people, in the first half mile passed a few guys and overheard one say they wish they had my speed, lol! I just kept to myself and pushed, didn't want to let my pace down, knew i needed a strong run like always to make up for my slow but developing bike speed. Course was nice being in the woods on a path then on the roads, allowed me to stay in the zone. Coming on the second loop I felt like I was on fire with this pace, again passed more people and went hard. With a half mile to go The womens finisher passed me and i tried to keep up, was able to do so for a bit before she blew by, found out she ran 18 minutes, dam! Getting into the final stretch with my labored whistly breathing a sprinted as hard as i could, couldn't quite break 1:23 but loved the time i got. When i looked at my results i just kicked my butt for coming so close but not breaking 20, oh well just gotta laugh it off and be happy about my race. What would you do differently?: break 20, bittersweet not to, wont have a chance till next year :( Post race
Warm down: walked around and had some rice and gatorade What limited your ability to perform faster: nothing Event comments: I have to say i was inspired to race fast after seeing Crowie break the Hawaii ironman course record and watching Wellington win her 4th world championship. Would say it was just an average race but the course was too good to give it that score and was policed well enough. Oh yea i had to round up since my exact time was 1:23:07.996 Last updated: 2011-10-10 12:00 AM
