Pre-race routine:

Nothing really, though I didnt eat breakfast this time and I htink it hurt me a little during the race
Event warmup:

I stretched and did a 100m Swim during the warm up, which I am starting to really take advantage of becasue its helped me calm my nerves and not panic during the swim
Swim
  • 30m 9s
  • 1448 meters
  • 02m 04s / 100 meters
Comments:

Swim was good for me, I started in the back and relaly slow so I could get my breathing down. It was downfall last year in which I paniced and had to side stroke the whole way making my swim the slowest in my age group and I think 5th to last overall. ABout 100m in I began to pick up the pace slowly all the the way through
What would you do differently?:

start off a little faster, I think I was going a bit to slow in the beginning
Transition 1
  • 02m 41s
Comments:

It was a normal transititon, You have to runa a bit which I never account for when I practice transition.....

It felt Like I was super fast I though it only took me a minute to get out of transistion, but than thinking about it it did take me liek a minute to get to my transiion area
What would you do differently?:

nothing really, maybe drink some water before I go off to bike
Bike
  • 1h 25m 56s
  • 24.6 miles
  • 17.18 mile/hr
Comments:

I have been trainnig on flat and windy roads in prep for Diamond man and IM Arizona, so not a lot of hill work but I still thought the bike leg was going to be the area I would improve the most, well that wasnt the case. I barely improved 2011 did a 17.2 mph in 2012 went to 17.3....ugh
What would you do differently?:

do more hill work and get stronger on the bike
Transition 2
  • 02m 39s
Comments:

I thought I did a good job, though forgor to put powder on my shoes and a small blister did begin to form at end of run....
What would you do differently?:

powder on on feet. Cut my hair, its too long for this hot weather....
Run
  • 45m 24s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 07m 19s  min/mile
Comments:

Run went well, I needed to hydrate more befroe the race and shoudl of took in more gatorade during the run.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more gatorade at the aid stations
Post race
Warm down:

Packed my stuff and headed home.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I think my lack of hill training on the bike really hurt my overall time and placing, need to do more hills

Event comments:

Good stuff.....though they should give out medals instead of towels,
